Officials flipped the switch Tuesday afternoon on the nearly 1,700 newly installed rooftop solar panels that will minimize the venue's impact on the environment. The project began three years ago is now actually producing electricity. The system will provide 24 percent of the venue's overall energy usage and reduce the convention center's carbon footprint by 179 tons, annually. "We are certainly interested in making our carbon footprints smaller and going green, as they say,” said Tom Byrne, Chairman of the Wildwood Tourism and Development Association. The system was developed by Tioga Energy of San Francisco and constructed by Pro–Tech Energy Solutions of New Jersey.
